My name is Aicardo Rivera Jr. I'm a Houston native and the founder of S2 Studios, where I help local Houston LGBT businesses with the digital work that gets them found — SEO, analytics, the things that quietly determine whether your venue shows up when someone in Montrose searches “queer bar near me.”
That work meant I'd often hear about Houston queer events and venues before most people did. The information exists — in OutSmart, on venues' own pages, in the people who run them. The problem is it's scattered: six different Instagram accounts, a magazine you have to remember to pick up, a group chat.
This shouldn't be that hard. Not in 2026. Not in Houston.
QScene is built, maintained, and moderated by one person — me. It's the only queer events app I know of built in Houston, for Houston. It will stay that way.
Three things I'm committing to in writing:
- 1.Free forever. The app will always be free to download and use.
- 2.No ads. Never selling your data. What you do on QScene stays on QScene.
- 3.Community-built safety. Our venue safety signals come from the people in the community, not from venues buying a rating.
If you want to reach me — not a support desk, me — hello@qscene.app.
